I signed up for a cable modem through Cox Cable today. I went in and picked up the modem. All I need to do now is wait till Monday at 5pm when they will remove the “filter” from the line. The funny thing is, I’m on MSN dial up that costs $22.99 and I can only connect at 26.4k. The cable modem costs me $24.99 and I should get 256k. $2 more than I pay now for 10x the speed. The bonus is the phone line is free now. Somewhere down the line I’ll upgrade to 512k ($39.99) or even 768k ($54.99).
